    Programs

    The Pioneer Science initiative supports areas that are strategic for frontier research. Investments are made jointly through partnerships with leading institutions in the country and abroad. These are programs with great potential to transform science and society in promising research areas that are still underexplored, and which can translate into important advances. It is also aimed at promoting excellent conventional science that aims to elevate our understanding of the biological world and the health issues that have reached humanity.


    1 - Quantum Biology and Neurophysics

    Quantum biology emerges at the interface between two large areas of knowledge: Biology, which studies life and the living organisms, and Quantum Physics, which deals with pehnomea occurring at the atomic or sub-atomic levels, i.e., at scales smaller than an atom, such as electrons, protons and photons.

    4 - Psychedelics and Cerebral Organoids

    Brain organoids are lab-created miniature human brain models that can be used to investigate the development and treatment of neurological disorders. Combination of the use of brain organoids and psychodelic substances has been utilized to understand how those substances affect the brain and their therapeutic potential in mental disorders.

    Transplants of genetically modified cells, tissues or organs will increasingly be part of the therapeutic repertoire of modern medicine.
