Pioneer Science is an initiative of the Instituto D’Or de Pesquisa e Ensino (IDOR), a nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific research and education in Brazil.
Pioneer Science’s areas of interest lie at the interface between the biomedical and health sciences and the exact sciences — this includes projects in three broad fields: molecular and cellular biology, the physics and mathematics of biology, and neuroscience and cognition.
Pioneer Science supports programs with great transformative potential for science and society itself. We identify and develop promising and still underexplored research areas, with the potential to generate significant advances.
On the other hand, Pioneer Science believes that new generations of scientists will be more powerful the smaller the inequalities in education are. Therefore, it encourages students from public elementary and high schools to deepen their studies, in addition to showing them that a scientific career can be an excellent professional choice. Pioneer Science's educational support actions are carried out through its own programs and partnerships with solid institutions focused on the sector.
