Pioneer Science is an independent initiative at the D’Or Institute for Research and Education (IDOR). Founded in 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, IDOR is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science for the betterment of humanity. IDOR combines cutting-edge research, professional training, and technological development in the health sciences. Its main sponsor is Rede D’Or São Luiz (RDSL), Brazil’s largest private hospital network.
Since its inception, IDOR has prioritized scientific discovery and addressed critical health challenges in Brazil. By dedicating resources and encouraging researchers to explore solutions to current and future problems, the Institute has made significant contributions to public health nationally and internationally. This includes groundbreaking research on the Zika virus and its link to nervous system malformations and critical contributions to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
