Sobre

Full Professor at the Department of Physics of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), specialized in scientific instrumentation in optics for the study of nanostructures. He has received awards such as the Somiya Award (2009), Scopus Brasil (2009), ICTP Prize (2012), Georg Forster Research Award (2015), and the Medalha da Inconfidência Mineira (2016).

Research Areas:

Physics and Mathematics of Biology

About the research:

The Neurophysics project aims to investigate, with unprecedented precision, the mechanisms of spatial and temporal integration of the human visual system in the few-photon regime. The research lies at the interface between psychophysics, sensory neuroscience, and quantum optics, seeking to understand how the human visual system processes light stimuli under extreme conditions close to the absolute threshold of vision.
