Frequently Asked Questions: IDOR Intramural Call – Pioneer Science

The information below refers to the IDOR Intramural Call – Pioneer Science, aimed at researchers affiliated with IDOR.

What type of research will the call support?

The IDOR Intramural Call – Pioneer Science seeks to support fundamental research projects that address major questions in the fields of health and biomedical sciences, as well as their interfaces with exact sciences. Major questions are those that challenge current scientific knowledge, offer new perspectives for advancement, or deepen understanding in specific scientific areas.

The focus is on original and bold projects, especially those that present a high degree of risk and innovation. Projects that merely replicate previous work will not be supported. Clinical research or technological development projects are also not the subject of this call. It is essential that there is a new and significant contribution to the field.

Will the evaluation reports be disclosed?

Candidates who do not advance after stages 1 (blind evaluation) and 2 (curriculum and complete proposal evaluation) will only be informed of the decision, without receiving reports. Candidates who reach the final stage (interviews) will receive feedback from the evaluators, regardless of approval for funding.

How to submit a proposal to the call?

All proposals must be submitted through the Pioneer Science portal on the Fluxx platform, within the deadlines established in the call.

How is the selection process structured?

The selection process will be conducted in three phases:

Phase 1 (blind): evaluation of the project title and abstract, without information about the proponent.

Phase 2: evaluation of the complete proposal and the history of the researcher affiliated with IDOR.

Phase 3: interviews in English with the pre-selected candidates.

Can financial support be extended?

The support will be granted for three years and may be renewed upon submission and approval in a new selection process.

Is it allowed for the researcher to pay themselves with the funds?

No. The call does not allow self-payment of the responsible researcher, nor the transfer of funds to institutions abroad.

Who is eligible to participate?

Only researchers with an affiliation to IDOR. Researchers in postdoctoral positions with only a scholarship link, without a formal contract, are not eligible.

Is it allowed for the project to have two responsible researchers?

No. Only one responsible researcher should be designated as the proponent. The project may have collaborations with other groups, but only one coordinator will be formally responsible.

Can foreign researchers participate?

Yes, as long as they have a formal affiliation with IDOR. Funds cannot be transferred to foreign institutions.
