UFRJ Institute of Physics in partnership with Pioneer Science opens vacancies for master’s and doctoral programs

Applications open on October 29 with the start in the first semester of 2026

The Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Group at the UFRJ Institute of Physics, in partnership with Pioneer Science, opens vacancies for master’s and doctoral programs in theoretical and experimental physics, across 7 different research lines.

The application period is from October 29 to November 17, 2025 with segmented application processes for each type of vacancy and expected start of activities in the first semester of 2026.

With support from Pioneer Science, the Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Group investigates the human ability to perceive the quantum properties of light and how it can generate behavioral responses or conscious experiences.

The available research lines for the vacancies are:

1- Physics applied to neuroscience.
2- Quantum Metrology
3- Raman Spectroscopy with single photons
4- Quantum Communication
5- Foundations of Quantum Mechanics
6- Quantum Optics
7- Open Quantum Systems

SELECTION PROCESS

Selected applications will be invited for interviews with representatives of the group, held on the same day and location as the Unipós Rio interview. Confirmation will be sent by email.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Some scholarships will be at the discretion of the group, funded by Pioneer Science, and others will depend on the ranking in the selection process of the IF-UFRJ graduate program.
