We’ve launched the first Pioneer Science Activity Report, marking three years of efforts to advance frontier science in Brazil. The document highlights the key milestones and achievements of our journey since 2021—a trajectory defined by scientific boldness, strategic alliances, structural investments, and a strong commitment to educating young talent.
Created to foster frontier science in Brazil, Pioneer Science has already supported over 40 researchers and fellows working on disruptive projects in the fields of molecular and cellular biology, the physics and mathematics of biology, and neuroscience and cognition. We’ve established partnerships with several world-class institutions — including the Weizmann Institute of Science, Stanford, IGI (UC Berkeley), King’s College London, and Northwestern University — and strengthened Brazil’s scientific infrastructure through the creation of new laboratories in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
On the Education in Science pilar, we’ve impacted hundreds of low-income youth through programs that range from early scientific training to college-level support. These initiatives are made possible through solid partnerships with institutions such as IMPA, the Leopoldo de Meis Network, and Instituto Apontar, all focused on promoting access to knowledge as a tool for social transformation.
All of this has been possible thanks to an independent philanthropic model, with 500 million BRL in funding over ten years, combining resources from the Moll family, the D’Or Institute for Research and Education, and national and international partners.
It’s been three years of intense achievements — and this is just the beginning. In 2025, we’re moving forward with new partnerships, supporting 15 researchers selected in our first public call, and launching new initiatives. We invite you to learn more about our journey and the next steps for Pioneer Science.
